“Your Superfoods” – Healing While Helping Someone Else

Hello my dear Yogilators,

I hope you are all doing well these days when the days get shorter, it gets colder outside and our immune system is working a little harder than usual.

As you know, I am a big believer in the mind-body connection and the healing power of food. However, it’s quite tough to get all essential vitamins and minerals in every day, therefore it became almost a given to take supplements, mostly in form of pills. Frankly, I don’t like taking boxes of pills with me, so I started to search for alternatives almost 3 years ago.

That’s when I stumbled over the so called “superfoods” and integrated them into my daily meals, like my oatmeal in the morning, or smoothies, and even muffins and cookies when I bake.

In my post about our “new superheroes,” I gave you a little overview of all the super great health benefits of Maca, aronia, moringa, hemp, acai, wheatgrass and many more.

And now guess what, I found a very cool company who shares my passion for nutrition and understands the great health benefits of these super foods as well! AND, lucky me, I got to try some of their super mixes for you. 🙂

Pack your Snack! My TOP 3 Favorite Protein Bars

What is your favorite to-go snack or (protein) bar?

Hello all!

It’s going to be a long day? Or perhaps you’re about to travel? I travel quite a bit in my job and leisure time, and I never leave my place without snacks. They have saved me many times from “blood sugar emergencies,” low moods, hunger pains, as well as unhealthy food choices.

There are many protein or snack bars out there, unfortunately many of them are sugar-packs, candy bars, or high fructose syrup monsters in disguise. Of course I am not a nutritionist, but I did find some natural, organic and delicious protein bar favorites that I’d like to share here with you since many of you have asked me before what I usually like to snack on 🙂

March: Yogilation’s Self-Care Challenge

Dear Yogilators!

Tomorrow is the start of a new month AND the meteorological beginning of spring! So, after February’s “Green Smoothie” and “Plank” challenges, I noticed that I ran out of breath very often, thinking about too many things I have to do besides holding the planks and preparing the smoothies. I even caught a cold and had to take a break from both challenges.

Recipe: Yogilational Green Smoothie

A few days ago, I signed up for a green smoothie challenge starting in February. In this challenge, I will drink 1 green smoothie a day for the whole month of February. I am excited and curious about the recipes and what it will actually do for me.

If you’ve been following my Yogilation page for while now, you know that I’m a “health-nut” and I enjoy trying new foods, places, and workouts, so I am looking forward to the green smoothie challenge for sure. So today, I wanted to use my greens that I had in my fridge for a small “trial green smoothie.” And here is what I mixed together:

Yoga to Speed Up Your Metabolism

Yoga is good for you. Sure, that’s a fact – proven by our own feelings, experiences as well as scientific studies. I’ve wrote about it for example in my “Yoga & Healing” post or “5 Reasons to Do Yoga at Work” article before.

However, have you ever thought about yoga helping you to speed up your metabolism and increasing your metabolic rate? Your metabolism is like your nice and cozy fireplace that converts or “burns” the food you’re eating into energy and something valuable for your body and overall well-being. Do you know those fit and healthy people that eat quite a lot when you go out to eat or see them at a party? And you might think “Wow, how can they eat all that without gaining weight?”
