Health Benefits of Cardamom (German: Kardamom)

You wouldn’t believe it but Cardamom is not only a tasty spice that reminds most of us of Christmas and other baked goods, it also has plenty of health benefits!

Cardamom is related to ginger, therefore it can help with digestion, cramps, muscle spasms and even hiccups. It’s also great for detox, stabilizing blood sugar levels, and to freshen our breath. Some studies showed that Cardamom can stop the growth of cancerous cells, thus prevents/fights cancer, and even depression, cold and flu’s, as well as preventing blood cloths. It is also a great antioxidant that fights free radicals, which offers anti-aging benefits.

It’s a really versatile spice that can be used for baking, cooking, and even juicing. I usually use cardamom to spice up my oatmeal in the morning, or  on my milk foam in the afternoon. I found a cool recipe for cardamom tea on Pinterest posted by “Jennifer Bowers”:

“Cardamom benefits includes relief from headache caused by indigestion. You just need to have cardamom tea to get rid of this problem. You can prepare herbal tea by steeping a quarter teaspoon of powdered cardamom seeds in boiling water for about 3-4 minutes. It helps deal with issues like depression, exhaustion and stomach acidity as well.”
