Fresh Turmeric Tea Recipe

I’ve been adding turmeric powder (German: Kurkuma or Gelbwurzel) to my oatmeal every morning for a while now, but I’ve always wanted to try to make tea with a fresh root of turmeric. One of my favorite teas is fresh ginger tea, so I thought that there must be an easy way to make fresh tea with the turmeric root. So I finally got one at an organic store and found a cool and easy recipe on Pinterest 🙂

What you’ll need:

– 1 fresh organic turmeric root

– 1 l (just boiled) hot water

– Optional: ginger, cayenne powder, black pepper, or/and honey

Preparation:

1. Cut the turmeric root into small slices

2. Boil up water and add the slices into the water

3. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes

4. Enjoy! (recipe source: HERE)

HEALTH FACT: I’ve read that adding black pepper increases the benefits of turmeric and helps your body absorb it better. For the same reason, it’s recommended to add coconut milk because you need a little bit of fat to absorb all the nutrients and get the whole nutritional value. Also honey, ginger, and cinnamon are great additions to get the most out of this power tea 🙂

Now you’re probably curious about what actually are the benefits of this funny looking turmeric root, right?

So here they are: (read all details HERE and HERE and HERE)
